Persuasive Writing

I was a little nervous about teaching persuasive writing this year! Teaching this writing unit is a first for me. We started by writing the principal a letter about getting a class pet.

Students had to write a letter to persuade a family member.
I think the letters came out great!
These lessons come from the book Explorations in Nonfiction Writing for Kindergarten by Tony Stead and Linda Hoyt.

  1. Melissa,
I love that you posted these writing samples with the children reading them. SO precious. I would get every one of them what they wanted- so they did a great job! :)

  2. Miss Clancy,

I have saved many of your posts related to writing and look forward to doing some writing workshops with my very own kindergartener at home this summer. I am looking forward to the fun!
