Daily 5 Word Work

Here are some of the things I am doing during Daily 5 Word Work

Rounding Up Rhymes

Rounding Up Rhymes is a simple, fun lesson from Phonics They Use Patricia M. Cunningham.
We took the book One Fish, Two Fish. Red Fish, Blue Fish
by Dr. Seuss.
We reread parts of the book.
We wrote rhyming words on index cards.
We checked before putting them in the pocket chart if they have the same spelling pattern.
We found the vowel and looked at the letters after the vowel.
Later in the day we added more words to our pocket chart of rhymes.
that rhyme with the same spelling pattern
that rhyme but have a different spelling pattern

What Do You Do When Your Stuck??
During Shared Reading and Guided Reading, we have been talking a lot about what to do when you are stuck on a word.

I want kids to think about what THEY can do before I help them!

Lunch Box Letters
Part Two

Part two of Lunch Box Letters
has chunks with the vowels e, o and u
