I shared last week how much I love these books! They are quick and simple reads. The text gives excellent examples of showing the feeling and using great vocabulary. Here are some reading responses I made connected to the different feeling books. You will also see related books that were found at the back of these books.
Great recommendations! Thanks! Our students all have the Bucket book read to them at the start of the year. They totally strive to be "bucket fillers" and I love that verbage! Here are a couple books that I use to discuss feelings:
I use this last one as a precursor to discussing bullying, but the kids are really able to identify with the emotions in this book and it is a great way to jumpstart a discussion about feelings: The Recess Queen Also, on the (off)topic of bullying, if you haven't read One by Kathryn Otoshi to your students, I highly recommend it.
I love this post! Every year I say I'm going to do a good job with writer's workshop and every year it gets pushed to the side. I think these feelings books would be great for the beginning of the year to get the kids to start writing about themselves and their feelings. Thanks! Wonder if my library has them?
