Shared Reading
I plan to have students make Things I Can Do book. This book will be used for writing and reading!
Learning Progression Chart
My teacher friend Genie shared this Learning Progression chart she created with her students. Her class worked together drawing the picture on the right to match the words on the left. The goal of this chart is to help identify where a student is at and help them move to the next box. I think this is a powerful resource to create with students. When Genie created this chart with her class, she found many students drawings improved. Thanks for sharing Genie!
Writing Workshop Book |
I am a big fan of Leah Mermelstein, and I just finished her latest book called Self- Directed Writers.
"It’s not surprising that schools have the power to either help or hinder students in becoming more self-directed. This book will show you how to teach, plan, and speak in ways that nurture kids to become even more self-directed during writing workshop, as well as pave the way for them to become self-directed adults." —Leah Mermelstein
I LOVED this book. I am so glad I read it in the fall. Leah gives great suggestions on how to help students be self-directed writers.
Thanks for sharing another great writing book! My kinders really enjoyed making the "I like" book. Did you create a circle map with this book also?
