Talking Tuesday about Nancy Carlson

In KC for the past few weeks, we have been talking about Nancy Carlson. This post will share with you some of the reading responses connected to her books.

If you don't know, Nancy Carlson books you, need to go to your local library and take her books out immediately !!! 

I am embarrassed to admit that I had just a few of her books, and I recently figured out how amazing her books are. 

My town library had tons of her books, so I decided to check them all out and do an author study about her. 

Every time I read a Nancy Carlson book I say to myself, I have to buy this book!!

  
Her books touch on all the issues we deal with all the time especially in kindergarten. I love how all of the characters in her books deal with obstacles and find ways to overcome them. 


Below are some of the books we love and reading response sheets connected to that book. I hope you take one of her books out of your local library.

I think everyone has this book! 
I was surprised at all the responses my students said about themselves.

 Kindergartners love this book because it's easy to read!

I was telling my class how Show and Tell were popular when I first started teaching! I can remember doing Show and Tell back in the day.

To me; it was long and dreadful!!!!!  I did have a Treasure Tell day at the beginning of the year where students could tell a story about a particular item from the home. 

I think this in one of my favorites. I wish I read this book in September!

Think Big is a book you could read ALL the time.
 A MUST HAVE story in any primary classroom. 

The main character comes home and tells his mom that someone called him shrimp. His mom gives him the advice to THINK BIG!

 Who does not have a child like Patrick who can't sit still???? 

I love that Nancy dedicated this book to her son Patrick's teacher who gave her the idea for this book during a parent conference.

Sit Still is a great example of how writers write about what they know.
