Here is a chart I made with my class to help them remember Best Work!
I still have lots of kids that take crayons and markers to write with, so you will see that I have that on the bottom of the chart. I don't mind letting kids use markers but crayons drive me CRAZY.
At writing they are not allowed to erase.
I often tell the kids when I see that your crossing out your work, it shows me your thinking!!
Making a mistake is a huge part of learning and learning is messy!!

I wrote on little labels and went around the border. Some of the comments say 2 colors, you made lots of mistakes, little writing, you wrote with marker of crayon, no name
3 colors, one sentence of writing, name
5 colors, name, you wrote with pencil, you wrote many sentences and you double checked your work

My kids use pen when they write. That way they can't erase. It can get kind of messy, but oh well. By the way, I absolutely love that your little ones write so much. I bet your 1st grade teachers love you.

Love this chart! What a great way to visually show the kids what is expected.
